Wellington, last night. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cables from tho AgentGeneral, dated the 7th :—“ Dull sale for all qualities of mutton. A further drop in prices seems imminent. The average price to-day for Canterbury mutton is Id, Duredin, Southland, and Wellington Meat Export Company’s Bj(d, other North Island mutton Tho Jamb market is depressed. Stocks are accumulating. The average prico of Canterbury brand is 4({d, New Zoaland lamb other than Canterbury 41 d. Tho beef market is weak. New Zealand hinds 4jd, fores 3ijd. Butter is steady, New Zealand supplies are finished. Danish is at 103 s, Siberian 91s, Canadian 98s. The cheese market is dull. Buyers are holding back, expecting prices to go lower. The ruling quotation is 565. Hemp market steady. Good, fair Wellington grade on spot £3O, June to August shipment £29 10s. Tho stock is 384 tons, as against 295„tons last year. Tho cocksfoot seed market is firm. Buyers have been offering for cocksfoot seed more freely. New Zealand 171 b standard is at 495.”
