Outbidding the British.

London, May 2. Much patriotic indignation has been expended here because an Italian firm came and scooped up the contracts for decorating the streets in Westminster for the Coronation. The Italian bid was 25 per cent, lower than the bids from London, but the English bidders tried to get the decision of the Borough Council upsot, declaring that they could bid at the same rate if they got another chance. But the Italian firm would have an unanswerable claim in law if the contract were to be cancelled, so the Italian decorations will beautify the most important part of the route of the royal procession. One of the schemes of deooration likely to be much adopted is an arrangement to outline the harness of horses after dark with tiny inoandescent lamps producing a charming effect.
