CHRISTCHURCH NEWS.
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Christchurch, last night. An elderly man, Robert Binger, a blacksmith at Halswell, while in a drinking bout, attempted suicide by cutting his throat with a knife. He was admitted to the hospital, but fatal consequences are not expeoted. ACCIDENTALLY STABBED. The Burnham Industrial School boy, Kenny, who was admitted to the hospital a fortnight ago suffering from a stab in the groin, inflicted by another inmate, said to be accidentally, died to-day. An inquest will be held to-morrow.
MILITARY FUNERAL. The remains of Trooper J. Treanery, of the Sixth Contingent, who died from congestion of the brain, wore aocorded a military funeral this afternoon, and over 600 volunteers and 60 returned troopers were present. The ceremony was witnessed by over 6000 people.
