CAPTAIN RUSSELL.

ADDRESS TO CONSTITUENTS

IMAPlc.rt. last, night. Captain Russell, M.H.R., addressed a meeting of his constituents at Princess Theatre, Hastings, this evening, the Mayor presiding.

Captain Russell met with a good reception. He confined his remarks mainly to Imperial questions and federation. He deprecated the principle of one-man rule as instanced by the work of recent Parliaments, and claimed that the Opposition were entitled to the thanks of the colony for their solid work in criticising the legislation introduced by the Government. He announced his intention of standing for Parliament aga n.
