REPLY TO MR HARRIS.
(To the Editor of the Times). Sir, —“ Birds are entangled by their feet, men by their tongues I ” I was rather amused when I read in your paper of the 29th nit., a letter from Mr Frank Harris, ro amalgamation. This question I will leave to tho right power to settle, not forgetting that every man, including Tom, Dick, and Harry, has a right to an opinion on the uubject. Tho fact of the Government being slow in answering the petition, for or against amalgamation, should not cause Mr Hurris to forget himself in the way he did. Mr Harris should remember that abuse or threats do not count when reason is required. The fact of Mr Harris severing his connection with the Liborals, or tho Hon. Jas. Carroll, is a matter of much conso quence. Ho has his one vote, the same as any ..other person, and his influence, I value at nil, judging by the Irishman’s lift ho got at the Harbor election. However, if Mr Harris has the backbone that be blows about, let him meet tho Hon. Jas. Carroll on the public platform, and then he will sing small.—l am, etc., Hippie.
