BOROUGH FINANCES. [By Telegraph—Press Association.) New Plymouth, last night. A special meeting of tbe Borough Council to-night considered the estimates. The receipts for the year wero down at £BlOl, and expenditure at £6935 10s. A sum of £IOO is to bo expended on groynes as an experiment to deal with the sea orosion, which is becoming serious. Ibc overdraft on 31st March was £44(8, including £1672 to be debited to loans, if such aro carried at the poll. Mr Spencei, of Melrose, Wellington, was appointed Engineer to the Borough. BURGLARY. At tbe Folice Court two men. John Rex and Ernest Maltravers, alias Wilson, alias Rose, were charged on remand with burglary at the Crown Dairy Co.’s offices. The case occupied all tbe day, accused cross-examining all tbe witnesses, llae was committed for trial, but probably will plead guilty to-morrow. Rose was discharged as to this case. Both will be charged for other offences to-morrow.
