TROOPERS ENTERTAINED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. About forty members of tho Sixth Regiment of tho New Zealand Mounted Infantry who returned by t' ir T-'-o ••■•i Wednesday wero entertained i u day by Ministers at a luncheon. Sir Joseph Ward presided. Mr Hall-Jones in the courso of a speech, said ho trusted that all the men who were returning from South Africa would enroll theinselveß in voluu’Yter corps.
CORONATION AND RELIGION. At a meeting of tho Coronation Committee to day the Clergymen’s Committee’s report in favor of abandoning tho uut-door services was received. A suggestion to baud the mattor over to tho Salvation Army was rejected, and it was decided that tho musical committee should arrange to have two hymns and two patriotic songs sung at tho gathering on tho Basin Rcservo. A QUIBBLE. A woman charged with palmistry to-day was discharged by the S.M. on the ground that it had not been proved tho defendant had deceived tho policomen who had their fortunes told.
