MISSION HOME. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, last night. The formal opening of the Church of England Mission Home and Deaconess Institute, which is in charge of Sister Ernestine, who was this week ordained Deaconess, took place to-day, when the building was blessed by Bishop Neville. HOLIDAYS. The retailers of the Employers’ Union have decided to observe June 3, Prince of Wales’ Birthday, as a tioliday. In connection with probable peace in South Africa it was decided to close immediately on the day the announcement of peace is made, but not to observe any further additional holiday. POLITICAL. Mr J. F. Arnold, M.H.R., addressed his constituents this evening. He confined his rear”!;? mainly to local matters. In a voung colony, he there must be borrowing to permit of public works being pushed forward. A vote of thanks and confience was carried unanimously.
