Weilmgiu.., night. On 30th March, 1901, there were 170,593 dwellings in New Zealand, of which 153,782 were occupied. There were 45,499 dwellings of three and four rooms, 52,585 of five and six rooms, and 86,542 containing more than six rooms. The number of persons to the square mile in New Zealand in February, 1871, was 2 - 456; in March, 1901,-it was 7-427. The number of females to hundred males in the colony in. December, 1858, was 76-41. The ratio showed a steady decrease for the succeeding twelve yearß, but has grown since 1870, and now stands at 90-33.
