FARMERS’ UNION AND CO-OP.
(To the Editor of the Times )
Sir,—Just a word or two in reply to Mr Clayton. He says that farmers are determined to have peace oven though they should have to fight for it. All right; let the Farmers’ Union members in the next Parliament (if any) join with the Socialists in passing the Referendum Bill; then we shall be able to fightin peace and comfort. It, is impossible to settle everything at a general election. With respect to the resolution of the Farmers’ Union which formed the text of my last letter, the objectionable part was not that upholding the contract system, but where—if words mean anything—a deliberate insult was offered to the workers. The words were to the effect that the Union would support the employment of competent as distinguished from co-operative workmen. —I am, etc., Co-Op.
