PRECAUTIONS AT TIMARU

[By Telegraph—Press Association]. Timaru, last night.

Acting on the circular of the Minister of Health, tho Borough Council’s sanitary committeo to-day decided to put tho Plague Hospital site in order (it is already asphalted), and inquire about tonts and ambulance. The question of doctor and nurses was left in tho hands of tho Borough Health Officor, who was also asked to get a supply of anti-plague serum. A deputation will wait on the Hospital Board to see what assistance tho Board will givo if a case of plague arises. The co-operation of the polico will be asked in the work of inspection in tho borough, and of tho Lovels County Council in the outside areas.

ACTIVITY AT LYTTELTON,

CHRISTCHURCH, Jasb night. To-day the Lyttelton borougii officials made a thorough house to house inspection of the town. Such diligence was displayed that practically the whole of the borough was inspected during the day. The results were generally satisfactory, as may be seen from tho fact that during the morning only one of the premises visited ‘was found to be much amiss.

Notice has been given to owners of poultry whose fowl-houses are not 30 feet from the dwelling and six feet from the fence that they must comply with the bye-laws or discontinue keeping fowls. One of the tents erected at Corsan Bay for cases of infectious disease was taken down for removal to Christchurch, to be used on the site of the permanent hospital for infectious diseases. The other appliances intended for Lyttelton have been packed up. .The little boy Rogers was reported to be no worse. The little girl whose case was regarded as somewhat suspicious is very much better.
