COMMERCIAL.

LOCAL WOOL SALES.

Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. report : —■“ We held our periodical sale of wool, skins, tallow, and hides on Friday. There was a good attendance of buyers •from Auckland and Napier ; competition was keen, and prices showed a decided improvement. The following are the prices realised by us: Fleece wool, 3d to 3id ; pieces, 2-id ; crutchings, '2 jd ; locks, lid to 2d ; well-saved skins, 3d to 3jd ; salted skins, from Is 4d to 2s 3d ; tallow, 20s to 22s 9d; hides, medium quality, 3|d. We would recommend sheep-farmers to salt their skins, a 3 the pelts are worth more in proportion than the wool. V e shall be glad to give sheep-farmers information as to the best way of salting skins, so that they can get best value, and for ourselves best commission.”
