HOCKEY.

A meeting was held at tho Masonic Hotel last night to consider tho question of forming a Hockey Association. Mr E. H. Pavitt presided, and there were also present : Messrs A. Coleman, MeCrcdio, Buseko, Garrett, Quigley, Wharton, Adair, Sheridan, Brosnakan, Beere, Bushnell, Skillicorn, Wallace, Wells, Driller, and E. L. Maude. Tho Chairman briefly explained the object of the meeting, and asked for suggestions with regard to the formation of three clubs, to be affiliated to a Union on tho same lines as the Rugby Union.

On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Wharton, it was decided that a Hockey Association, be formed, to consist of threo clubs to start with. Mr E. L. Maude was appointed interim secretary of the Association. The Secretary was directed to write to the Poverty Bay Rugby Union, requesting the use of a ground at the Domain every Thursday afternoon, and asking for terms.

Interim delegates for three suggested districts were appointed, as follows: West End, Messrs A. L. Sherriff and B. Quigley ; City, Messrs G. Buseko and A. Coleman; Suburbs (Haiti and Whataupoko), Messrs Pavitt and Garrett. Their duties to consist of approaching members likely to join and to report progress next Tuesday evening, when the question of forming three clubs will be decided. The Ladies’ Hockey Club having offered to loan their goal-posts, etc., for the purpose of a start being made, it was unanimously resolved that a hearty vote of thanks be tendered them.

Resolved that all being favorable a practice match bo held next Thursday, players to be notified later. Mr McCredie, on behalf of the Union, kindly consented to supply all information relating to rules, bye-laws, boundaries,, eto., likely to prove of service to tho Association.

A vote of thanks to the chair was then carried, and an enthusiastic meeting was brought to a close.
