GISBORNE WOOLBROKERS’ ASSOCIATION
A MOST SUCCESSFUL SALE, The periodical salo in connection with the Gisborne Woolbrokers' Association was held yesterday, and was the most successful held for some time. There was a goqd attendance of local and outside buyers, the 'latter '.including Messrs Kearstey, Warnock, a.:,. Li.-n rd (Auckland), and Kelly, Lavers, and Burke (Napier). Prices generally showed ari_improvement over previous sales of over a farthing a pound, and competition was keener than it has been for several sales. Each of the local firms had a large catalogue, and all report good business. Mr A. F. Kennedy officiated as auctioneer for Messrs Williams and Kettle, and also for Messrs Wyllie and Mason, and Messrs Bennett and Sherratt. Mr J. B. Kells represented Messrs Common, Shelton, and Co., and Mr George E. Eliott for Messrs Dalgety and Co., the latter firm having a very large catalogue. Mr J. W. Bright sold on behalf of the Loan and Mercantile Company. The amount catalogued totalled over 800 bales of wool, fifty bags, 100 pockets, . 5000 skinS, 200 hides, and about four tons of tallow.
