The St. Kilda Borough Council to-night passed a resolution affirming the principle oi rating on unimproved values, and pledged itself to take a vote at an early date. . The Hon. W. Hall-Jones arrived ra town to-night. He saw a deputation from some of the dredging companies, who wished to secure the services of a Government expert in explosives to remove some of the obstructions in the Molyneaux, brought down by the recent waterspout near Cromwell. The Minister promised to place the services of SergeantMajor Wall at the disposal of the com- * panies to carry out the work at their ; ‘ expense. , ' The Trades and Labor Council to-night passed a resolution expressing sympathy with the resolution passed by the National Council of Women in favor of equal pay for qqual work, irrespective of sex.
