BURGLARIES AT NEW PLYMOUTH.

[By Telegraph—Press Association]. New Plymouth, last night. A series of burglaries occurred last night, also several entries to. private houses in the day time. Attempt's to open safes at business premises failed. The artiolea stolen were only trifling. Two man were arrested at 4.30 this afternoon at the Terminus Hotel. They gave their names, probably assumed, as Earnest Matrevers, aged 28, and John Rex, aged 89, both being painters. The former was employed some months back by Mr Bellringer, painter, under the name of Rose. Bellringer’s was one of the places broken into.
