Wairoa News.

Waivoa is partly awake from its Rip Van Winkle sleep, and shows signs of an attempt to forge ahead. The establishment of a dairy factory and a flax mill are an evidence of the fact. The dairy factory shareholders met on Saturday, and had a great difficulty in getting the requisite number of shareholders to accept seats on the directorate. This has been accomplished, and from its composition I should say that there is every prospect of its erection and working being au fait accompli. The promoters of the lawn tennis for the school held a social in the Royal Albert Hall (Poyzer’s) which owing to the inclemency of the weather was not very well attended. However, a very enjoyable evening under tho Presidency of the headmaster (Mr Neill) was spent, and the inevitable dance closed the proceedings. Mr Boyzer’s hall is large, commodious, and replete with every convenience, and would be a credit to a town of greater calibre than Wairoa. It is lighted with acetelyne gas, which gives a nice mild, mellow light. The supper-room at the rear of the hall is as large as some halls, and there is a kiteken connected with it, in which cooking can be carried on, and tea and coffee prepared. The whole building ~is an ornament to the east end of the town, and a credit to the enterprising caterer, as well as to the pontpactor —Mr J. Haisman of your town.
