WAIROA’S LITTLE GRIEVANCE. The Wairoa Guardian, in a paragraph 1 tierring to the civil business that has accumulated there, makes this rather tint addition : “ All this could hate hien avoided if the >S.M. Intel fixed his rAliug during the first week in April, as the Supreme Court did not sit in Gisborne until the 10th April.” IVc warmly commend the Guardian for the way it keeps Wairoa’s interests to the lore, but the foregoing reference to Mr Barton is unjust. There i>- not a itrilcr worker and more methodical, officer in New Zealand than Mr Barton, and if the editor of the Wairoa journal had had the opportunity oi noting tlie smoothness with which Ine Supreme Court’s record session was got through, and with the snowleuge lie would or course have of now much that would depend on the Registrar, his comments would no doubt havo taken a different, form. The work of the Supreme Court has to be made ready, and, having the advantage of being on the scene and able to note how tilings have been done, we take this opportunity of congratulating the Registrar, Mr Barton, and we are sure that in this the Guardian and the people of Wairoa will heartily join witli us. Perhaps we should not make comparisons, hut we cannot help saying that, with tlie staff at commanu and the enormous district covered, our it cal branch of the Department of Jus tire does more work, and does it well, too, than any other branch in tlie colonies.
