The Union Company’s s.s. Tarawora (Captain Beaumont) arrived from;South yesterday morning, and left for Auckland at 9 o’clock. Passengers : Misses Tiffin, Pearson; Pyke, Kingston, Davies, Woodbine Johnson, and Jeffreys', Masters Steele, Macdonald (2), and Carroll; Mrs Tiffin; Messrs Ivory, Wall, Evans, Bhodes, Baxby, Waghorn, Tutanihoniho, O’Sullivan, Oxley, Holmes (2), Pearson, Collins, James, Beale, Moore; Whiteaway, Marryatt, Williams, DeLautour, Schleick, Constable Keenan, Baker, Mollroy, Jones, Garvey, Commock, Hood, Dugleby, Brown, and Canon Fox. 1 Outward : Mcsdames Arnodoo and ! child, Bathbone, and Brown ; Messrs B. Brett, Baxendell, Brown, Fletcher, O’Connell, Storgeon, Willis, Lloyd, Bowley, Smith, Constable Keenan and one prisoner. The Union Company’s s.s. Mararoa (Captain Smith) arrived from Sydney and Auckland at 11 a.m. yesterday, and proceeded South at midnight. Passengers:— Inward : Misses Slone, Hunt, and Delion; Mesdames Batcliffe, Farmer, and Warren; Messrs Donovan, Dunn, Brownlee, and Kellerman. Outward: Misses Herbert, Von Daldeszen, Harris, Webb, and ISister Davis; Mesdames Boland, Matthewson and son, Colleson, Wilkinson, Broughton and child ; Messrs Chambers, W. L.'Eees, McCrae, Wilson, J. N. Williams, Burgess, Mouat, Pareata, Barron, Herbert, Burnett, Bruce, McCallum, Schleich, Collinfe, and Pollard’s Opera Company (52).
The schooner Gisborne arrived at Auckland on the Ist inst., and is loading cargo for the return trip. Captain Pankow wires that he will probably have to charter another boat to carry freight available. The schooner Waiapu arrived in Auckland from East Coast ports on the 2nd inst., and is loading for Gisborne. The schooner Awanui sailed from Auckland for Mercury Bay on the 2nd inst., and there completes her loading for this port. The ketch Atlanta, from Auckland, with coal for Messrs Clayton Bros., is on the way.
The scow Hawk is being loaded by Mr Trounsen at Kaipara, for the Gisborne Harbor Board. -
The scow Bravo left Whangarei for 'Gisborne on Monday last with a further cargo of coal for the Sheepfarmers’ Freezing Company. * The s.s. Balmain, which arrived at Hokianga on the 2nd inst. to load timber for Sydney, proceeds to Newcastle under charter to the Gisborne Gas Company and ’Clayton Bros. The Aotea has left Awanui for Auckland.
Tho s.s. Hawea left Tiinaru last night for Napier and Gißbome, and is due ; here at daylight on Saturday.
