ALLEGED PLAGUE.
THE CHRISTCHURCH CASE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. Dr Mason has been with the patient Shield, who is suspected of suffering from the plague and is isolated at the hospital in the small-pox reserve, three miles from the city. Dr Mason is still carrying on investigations, and will remain with the patient ail night. When the diagnosis is completed it will be sent to the Minister of Health. Tho result will not be known till he announces it. Dr- Mason is quite satisfied with the arrangements for isolation and the accommodation of the patient. On Friday, however, he will meet delegates from interested local bodies in the district, to consider what combined action should be taken ih regard to the erection of a proper hospital for infectious diseases. Dr Mason impresses qp the public that even if the case is one of plague there is absolutely no danger of an epidemic so long as householders and local authorities keep their places clean, and vigorously carry on a crusade against rats. . Dr Mason is making important experiments to test the relationship between plague and cat£i and fowls.
