At Matauri Bay, Harry Spanhake was killed by a log passing over him. His mate, Ned Bowyer, was slightly injured. The question whether there will lie any celebration of Coronation Day in Auckland came up at the City Council meeting, as the outcome of a letter' from a firm of fireworks manufacturers, who quoted a price for an aerial display on that occasion. It was resolved that the Mayor should call a meeting of citizens to discuss the best method of celebrating the event.
