At the Royal Colonial Institute dinner there were 220 guests, including a number Of Australian ex-Governors, the AgentsGeneral, and prominent colonials. Lari Grey presided. He recommended the creation of an order of membership in connection with the Institute, members to bo styled associates, to enlist wider sympathies, especially of artisans on behalf of the union and development of the Jimpire. He predicted that they could thus raise annually ono hundred thousand pounds, to be applied to the collection and diffusion of information which would be of value to statesmen aud citizens. He hoped the Conference of Premiers would not separate without paving the way to Imperial federation, even if it involved some material sacrifice on the part of both tho Motherland and the colonies. Mr Copeland, New South Wales AgentGeneral, suggested that each of the Prince of Wales' children should bear a princely title associating Royalty through the first child with Canada, second with Australia, third with New Zealand, and fourth South Africa. Admiral Seymour paid a tribute to tho Naval Contingent sent with tho gunboat Protector by South Australia to China.
