PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE. By Tolograph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. In accordance with tho recommendation of the Public Trustee in the last annual report to Parliament, Cabinet has sanctioned a new scale of charges. The fees in many cases are entirely abolished; others aro reduced, and the rates of commission in most cases are considerably lessened. Tho year has been a very ..favorable one for the office, tho profits amounting to over £IO,OOO. It is believed that tho new scale of charges will result in a further largo increase. MASONRY. The Masonic Grand Lodge concluded its sittings to-day, and the visiting brethren were entertained at a banquet in tho ovcning. To-day, tho delegates adopted a number of amopdmonts to tho constitution, including a'scheine of larger lodge representation at tho Grand Lodge communication. Expenses are to be met by a levy of ninepence per member throughout the jurisdiction. SUPREME COURT Supreme Court, Leonard Jacobs, charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a Chinaman, was found not guilty. AT7CKLANDNEWS. SUCCESSFUL LOAN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. Tho third instalment of £IO,OOO of the £IOO,OOO city loan, offered in £IOO debentures, has beon fully subscribed by tender. At the meeting of the City Council last night more than half tho loan, £SIOO, was taken up at a premium ranging from 6d to 53 per cent. The balance of £499 was subscribed at par. WAIHI MINE. A circular just issued to tho Waihi Company’s shareholders gives particulars j of a now reef cut in No. 5 level south-east. ' A cross-cut of over 200 feet has been 1 driven on the lode, which averages £5 per ton all the way, and in the present face is ‘ 5 feet wido.
