Messrs Common, Shelton, and Go., Ltd., report:—“ We held our monthly stock sale at Waerenga-a-hika yards yesterday, when we yarded 175 cattle and 250 sheep. There was fair competition for cattle, but business was hampered by high reserves on several of the larger lines. Sheep elicited little bidding, and were passed in considerably below owners’ reserves. We quote: Forward steers. £5 12s 6d; 21-year-old steers, JE4 12s 6d ; 20-month steers, £3 10s; weaners, good quality, £2 10s ; weaner steers (Jersey). 34s ; weaner heifers, good quality, £2 7s ; 20-month heifers, £3 10s to £'6 16s; cows and calves, ilo 10s ; cows in calf, £5 ; 2-tooth ewes were passed in at 6s 3d, and full-1 mouth ewes were passed in at 45,” I
