ALLEGED THEFT.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Blenheim, last night.
A young man named John Ledsham, with a foreign accent, was sentenced today to one month’s imprisonment with hard labor, for the theft of moneys from his employer, a storekeeper at Havelock. He appropriated £l4 in different sums, paid to him by his employer’s customers. The accused recently came out from England, where he has a wife, and was employed in Wellington. He pleaded that he had given way to the temptations of drink and gambling at Havelock, which had led him to commit the offence with which he was charged,
