89 STEAM FIRE ENGINES AND 300 FIREMEN EMPLOYED.

A fire occurred this morniug, recalling the great fire in Jewin’s street a few years ago. The fire gutted three warehouses on tho south side and two on the north side of the Australian Avenue, and both sides of the New Zealand Avenue m Barbicane.

Thirty-nine steam firo engines, and three hundred firemen were omployed in extinguishing the flames. There were no fatalities.
