AUCKLAND PLAGUE SCARE.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. A somewhat suspicious case of sickness has occurred in the Borough of Grey Lynn, owing to certain symptons reported by Dr Sharman to the Health Commissioner, who notified the case to the local authority, the Grey Lynn Borough Council. Dr Maekgill, District Health Officer, and Dr Sharman, accompanied by the Mayor, Mr Warnock, and Town Clerk, visited the patient, named Virtue, of Richmond road. As precautionary measure they decided to remove the case to the building erected on the Outer Domain, pending a bacteriological examination. The patient was removed, and the family isolated. The steps taken are purely precautionary, and it is anticipated the ease will prove simple blood-poisoning. The patient was lately employed on the wharf. Medical men are now almost certain that Virtue’s case is only one of bloodpoisoning. Wellington, last night. The Public Health Department is advised that the condition of the Auckland patient is improving. It is still uncertain what the complain is, and will be so until the bacteriological examination is completed.
