MAORIS AND THE WAR.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, April 21. Cables from New Zealand published confirming Mr Seddon’s statement in reference to the Maoris the following is the text of his denial. He states: Words are put into my mouth that I never uttered. The words were spoken by a Maori chief, and used metaphorically years ago. Tho words the Maori chief used were, “in years gone by if we had been allowed to roam in South Africa trouble would have been over,” and when I tell you the Maoris in tkoir tribal wars were most generous to the foes, I don’t think there would be much to fear if they had been allowed to take part in South Africa.
