Leading American, British, and Continental steamship lines have entered into an arrangement to avoid ruinous competition in the North Atlantic trade. They mutually share improvements in the trade, reduce expenses, amalgamate in repairing works and in offices. The com bination acts in union with the American railways, and secures uniformity of service in winter and summer. There will be no international transfer of ships in connection with the combine.
