SPORTING.

AUCKLAND RACES,

(Special to Times.) Auckland, last night,

The Avondale meeting commences tomorrow. Mr Hurry Hayr, the popular secretary of the Auckland Bacing Club, has been busily engaged during tho last few months in attending to tho alterations of tho course, and it now surpasses any of the courses in New Zealand. The following are my anticipations: The Maiden has an open appearance. Hector and the pony Mara read as likely as any. Tim may take most beating in the hurdle race. Highlander, Defender, and Beddington may be in the positions at the finish of the Avondale Handicap, and Wairiki and Austerlitz in the Juvenile Handicap. Pony Race: Sea Spray or Orange and Blue. Hack: Gatclock or La Polish. Railway : Sundial or Goetzer.
