Stock Sale.
Messrs Williams and Kettle, Limited, report holding their stock sale at Matawhero on Thursday, when 4100 sheep and about ‘2OO head of cattle were yarded. There was a large attendance, but buyers were none too plentiful. I Sheep : Our entry consisted of ewes and | sevoral lines of wethers and weaners, for which the bidding throughout was somewhat slack, but we cleared the bulk of our entry before leaving the yards. We quote: Four-ycar-old ewes, good condition, 6s to lis 9d; 5-year-old, good order, 4s to 4s 13d ; cull ewes, Os ; potters, Is 6d; weaners, 6s to 4s 9d; 2 and 4-tooth wethers, 8s 3d to 8s lOd. Cattle: The sale of cattle was very patchy, and a number of useful steers failed'to reach reserves. Young heifers, however, made exceptionally good prices. Wo quote : Good springers, from 116 10s to JEIO 10s for an exceptionally fine heifer; fat cows, £5 10s to £o 15s; forward cows, .04 2s 6d to £4 16s ; heifers in caif, £0 to £0 7s ; yearlmgs, £o ; weaners, 30 to oss, and a nico line of 44 mixed weaners made 455.
