April IG.—At a suburban municipal meeting an alderman moved that the Anti-War League petition be sent to ,the rubbish tip and left there. Another alderman objected because the tip was situated in his ward. The Council compromised by sending ii to the waste paper basket. A RACEHORSE. Mr Willis has purchased the racer Grasspan, which lie intends to send to South Africa. The price is not stated yet. FEDERAL ARCH. MELBOURNE. April 16.— I The Federal Government have abandoned their intention to erect a Federal arch in London in connection with the Coronation celebrations, illustrative of the Commonwealth’s industries. The reason given is that the time is too short.
