The belief expressed by His Honor Mr Justice CoDolly that oaths should be dispensed with will be warmly approved by some who have had experience of Court work and will be dissented from by many. In every law court there is perjury, and it is seldom that it can be sheeted home as was done last week in the caso of the Maori lopa te Whetu, who is a well-known figure in the district. Many people have no thought of the sanctity of the oath, but it probably does prevent some people from swearing falsely, which they might otherwise be inclined to do. In New
