BANISHMENT OF BURGHERS.

Mr Cfiamberlain, replying to a question whether Burgher and others would be banished after the safe conduct term expires, if they fail into the hands of the British, said the proclamation dealiDg with banishment would remain in operation.
Lord Stanley states that four hundred and fifty thousand small-arms and two hundred and forty million rounds of ammunition have been issued in South Africa since the ultimatum.
