NO BILL. In the case of William Babbington, charged with theft, the jury returned “ No bill,” and the accused was discharged. REMANDED FOR SENTENCE. A Native named Wire mu was brought up for sentence on two charges of burglary. After briefly addressing the accused, llis Honor sentenced him to twelve months’ imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to run concurrently. Apirana Tipuna was brought up for sentence on a charge of horse stealing. Mr W. L. Rees appeared lor accused, and stated that there had been transactions between the prosecutor and accused in regard to horses and money paid in regard to the services of a staliijn for a mare owned by accused. Had it not been that the accused had pleaded guilty in the lower Court to one of the charges, there was reasonable ground to think that he would not have been convicted on tho two charges. His Honor said the theft was committed prior to the one which the accused had pleaded guilty to in the lower Court. In passing sentence, he stated that the prisoner should have known that he was doing wrong in selling the horse, and be was liable to a heavy penalty for the offence committed. Taking into consideration the peculiar circumstances of the case, the sentence of the Court would be throe months in Auckland gaol with hard labor, upon each of the two charges, the sentences to be cumulative.
