Dir Balfour announced that it was not intended to publish the Dlorant-Handcock courtmartial proceedings. Dir Brodrick added that it was not customary to publish statements in regard to courtsinartial. Viscount Cranborne said no communication had been received from the German Consuls respecting the shooting of Hesse, the missionary. Canada i 3 prepared to send four regiments of one thousand each to South Africa.
Lord Kitchener has authorised Piet De Wet to raise a burgher corps for service in the northern Orange Colony. Kruger informed a deputation of German workmen that he was convinced the Boers would retain their independence, though he was willing to cede the Rand. There was now more fighting on the Boers’ side than at the beginning of the war.

DIURDERED DIISSIONARY A BRITISH SUBJECT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, April 10. Lord Methuen is progressing well. It is announced that Hesse, the German missionary, was a British subject. Steyn is suffering from an affection of the eyes, which threatens blindness.
