WELLINGTON NEWS.
FACTORIES COMMISSION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. Giving evidence before the Victorian Factories Commission, the Hon. Mr Rigg, M.L.C., Messrs Vaughan, Crewes, and Orr generally favored the working ot the present legislation, though they admitted that minor amendments were necessary. They all supported- Conciliation Boards being retained. Mr R. M. Tolnurst, City Councillor, said he looked upon the boards as a farce, members being more concerned with the fees due to them than anything else. It was in his opinion pernicious for one man to be secretary of a number of different unions, for he then became an agitator pure and simple. The members of the Commission were welcomed to the city by the Mayor during the afternoon. DREDGING. The Welcome dredge return is 650 z, and the Wakamarina Golden Point dredge 290 z 13dwt.
