AUCKLAND NEWS.
TENTH CONTINGENT.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. Senior Lieutenant A. Tapper, of the Auckland Engineers, has been given a commission in the Tenth Contingent, and left for the South yesterday afternoon. Mr Tapper will also act as assistant medical officer on the medical staff.
This afternoon the Rev. Sydney Hawthorne left for Trentham camp, to take up his duties as Anglican chaplain. It is not known to which battalion he will be attached. Dr J. F. Dickson, who has previously served in South Africa, was passed as medical officer to the Tenth Contingent at the Brigade Office to-day, and left this afternoon for Wellington. W. S. Harris was given a position in the Tenth, and proceeded South to join the •Contingent. CORONATION CONTINGENT.
About twenty Maoris from various parts of the Auckland provinical district havemow left for Wellington, where they will go through the process of final selection for the Native Contingent for the Coronation. The latest batch of seven natives left this afternoon by the Rotoiti from Onehunga.
