At tiie wool sales four thousand bales were submitted. There was good competition for the better class of wools-. Greasy sold up to eightpence, while the prices for scoured were seventeen pence. MELBOURNE, April 10, Mr Barton, referring to the proposal for Empire defence, stated that it was based on a speech by Mr Brodrick, who said that there was absolutely nothing in the speech to give color to the statements- it was based on. It was quite natural, as Mr Brodrick says, that if the whole Empire is involved the whole Empire should help to divide the issue. THE MURDERERS.
