TOKOMARU BAY.

(From Our Own Correspondent).; Interesting events still follow closely one upon another along the coast. The Mormon hui is in full swing, and althougn the weather has been exceedingly bad, quite a large number of Natives and Mormon elders are 1 ere. The lectures are held in the Public Hall, and which is well filled on each occasion. The local Natives have again shown their liberality in catering for the gathering, the supp'y of fruit, meat, vegetables, bread, and poultry being apparently unlimited. The local cricketers’ ball, to be held this week, promises to be quite a success.

As agreed at the 'interview with the Hon. J. Carroll, a petition is in the course of preparation praying .or a sitting of the S.M. Court to sc held here, and also for the appointment of a public constable. It is to be hoped this will be granted, as the want of a Court has been much felt for a long time. Summonses have at present to be issued either at Tolago Bay or Port Awanui, which means heavy expense to those requiring the assistance of the law.

.Winter appears to be on us now, rain and cold having prevailed for some time. It ‘is pleasing to note that in spite' of this feed is everywhere abundant and the stock are looking well, ■Speak.ng of stock, and showing the necessity of ample feed, Waipiro station lias this year reared 2,200 calves and 37,000 lambs.
