DEATH FROM THRIST AND EXPOSURE.
SAD STORY FROM NORTH AUSTRALIA. ADELAIDE, Mar. 27. 1 The Commissioner of Police lias received information of two deaths from thirst and exposure in the Far North. In one case the victim, a man named Charles Clark, had been missing since January 26. Near Innamincka, on March 13, his swag was found. There was evidence that Clarke tried to bleed his horse with the intention of drinking its blood. The constable reported that Clarke’s body had pro- -- bably been covered with drift sand. In the other case, a shoemaker, aged about 50, whose name is unknown, and who was doing odd jobs on his way up the route to Birdsvilie, m Quepnsland, was found alongside his swag on Gpyder’s Lagoon, it- was plain from all appearances that his had been a hard death from thirst. A third case occurred near Blumbers, on the roadside, Peath, though due to natural causes, was accelerated by exposure. Deceased was a swagman about 55. Some ladies saw him in the afternoo-n, and he said, “ Ladies. I am very bad,” and coughed violently. They asked him if he could walk to a house, and he replied “No,’ but added, “If I could only get to some shed, I would not trouble anybody. I’ll die in half-an-hour.” The ladies went for assistance, but the man was dead when they returned. The letters “ H.M." conjoined were scratched on bis quart jwL
