Death of an Old Settler.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Nelson, last night. James Kerr, an old Waimea West settler, died yesterday, aged 81. Deceased came to Nelson from Scotland, with his parents, in the barque Fifeshire, the first immigrant vessel to Nelson, in 1842. His father was the first man to put a plough in South Island soil.
