FATALITIES.

DEATH OF TWO YOUNG WOMEN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. When the six o’clock train was coming down from Papanui last night, near the north belt, a young woman named Mary Brown, 23 years of age, endeavored to jump off while the ears were in motion. I She fell and the train went over both legs, inflicting frightful injuries. She was taken to the hospital in the ambulance van, but died shortly after midnight. She was a daughter of Mr Peter Brown, of Akaroa, and a niece of Mr Campbell Brown, of Lyttelton. An inquest will be held to-morrow.

A young girl named Alice Phipps, daughter of Mr Sydney Phipps, of Sydney, was found dead in a bath this morning. She is supposed to have had a fit. An inquest is to be held.
