A remarkable sight was witnessed yesterday, when thousands of black fish a species of whale, appeared in the Hauraki Gulf, and headed towards the rivers running into the southern bight. For over an hour a continuous stream of fish, some thirty feet long, were passing! It is expected that several will be stranded on the flats.
