A YICTOKY FOR MANGAHEIA. [by TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Palmerston North, last night. The final for the handicap was played to-day, beiween Mangaheia and Manawatu IV., the Rangitikei team havin" withdrawn from the contest. The visitors conceded the local men 1 goal, the respective handicaps being : Mangaheia, 11 goals; Manawatu IV., 12 goals. Contrary to expectation, the game was very closely contested. During six spells, only one goal was scored, by Reynolds, for the visitors, which made the scores even. Play continued, and the seventh spell was resultless, the Manawatu plavers making desperate efforts to win. In the eighth spell, Mangaheia scored, winning the trophy. The visitors were warmly congratulated on winning the trophy at the first essay.
