CHRISTCHURCH NEWS
By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night.
There is a feeling in Christchurch that the southern portion of the Tenth Contingent should -be sent from Lyttelton. It is urged that the citizens were deprived of an opportunity of showing their loyalty when the Ninth Contingent was sent away, through the troops being railed straight through from Addington to Lyttelton. A hope is expressed that oy taking the Tenth through the city, as was done in Dunedin, some compensation might be given for the disappointment caused on the previous occasion. The North Canterbury Infantry will go into camp at Easter on the banks of the Waimakariri. Special attention during the training will be given to tho instructions of officers and non-coms, on day and night outpost duty, skirmishing, and scouting over an extended line of country, with full reports from officers commanding the units, and minor tactics in attack and defence, with hasty entrenchment. The training will be carried out on service lines as far as possible.
