TEACHERS FOR SOUTH AFRICA. A,T the request of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, twenty women teachers for Refugee Camps in South Africa will be selected in this colony. The engagement will be for one year. The salary offered is £IOO for the year, w:th the prospect of further employment for those teachers who give satisfaction and elect to remain in South Africa. Free rations and accommodation in the Camps are given, and teachers will receive medical attendance free. The cost of transit from the place of residence to the place of interview will be paid to those candidates selected by the education Department for interview ; and to the candidates finally selected there will also be paid the cost of transit from their homes to the port of embarkation, and second class steamer fares to South Africa. Candidates must be of sound physical constitution They will be medically examined before final selection. Preference will be given to trained women teachers, having, if possible, four or five years’ experience of infantwork. Ability to teach singing is an essential qualification. Every application should be addressed to the Secretary of the Board of Education of the district in which the candidate lives ; but it is not intended that tiie appointments should be confined to those engaged in public elementary schools.
