DRCEDGEMASTER.
The following letter from Captain Cummings was read at the Harbor Board meeting yesterday : “I find I shall not be able to give you satisfaction as master of the dredge and at the same time carry on the duties of pilot and harbormaster. I therefore beg to resign my position as master of the dredge, but shall be pleased to retain the position of pilot and harbormaster."
The Chairman, referring to the previous applicants, said a good man named Fisher was engaged on the J.D.O. at Napier; another applicant was Mr Knowles, of the Waihi.
Members favored Mr Knowles, and later on it was arranged that he should be appointed temporarily for a month.
