Mar. 13.—Twenty thousand laborers on the New York-Newhaven railway have struck because they were required to handle goods carried on nonunion steamers. The shipping trade is paralysed. SULTAN’S MOVE. CONSTANTINOPLE. March 13.—The Sultan is fomenting a pan-Islam movement in favor of deposing the Khedive, who is suspected of a desire for an independent kingdom.
