Tho writer of the nuance column in the Wellington Free Lance indulges in sarcasm in this form: —“The question of trade relations with South Africa is again being discussed, the last mail from the war-stricken country having brought a few complaints from those anxious to buy a few boxes of butter from New Zealand merchants. The South Africans want from this colony about a couple of thousand boxes of butter, and some poultry, the deliveries to extend over several months, and there is grumbling because the New Zealand Shipping Company, the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company, and the Tyser line cannot see their way to divert their steamers for this small business, which would be absolutely unprofitable,"
